The Indoor Africa Cup (IAC) 2024, held at the MTC Dome in Swakopmund, Namibia, from 23rd to 26th May, was an event packed with thrilling matches and historic moments. This tournament served as the qualifiers for the Indoor World Cup, set to take place in Croatia in February 2025.

A Showcase of Talent and Determination
Men’s Final: A Spectacular Comeback
The men’s final was a spectacle of resilience and skill. South Africa, the reigning champions, initially took the lead. However, the Namibia men’s team, driven by determination, made a remarkable comeback, drawing the game and pushing it into a nail-biting showdown. In a dramatic turn of events, Namibia triumphed, securing the title of Indoor Africa Men’s Champions and a coveted spot in the Indoor World Cup.

Women’s Final: A Battle of Grit
The women’s final was equally dramatic. The Namibia ladies team showed incredible tenacity, fighting back from a 3-0 deficit to force the game into a showdown. Despite their relentless effort, they were narrowly defeated by the South Africa ladies. Nonetheless, their performance was nothing short of inspirational.

Making History
This year’s Indoor Africa Cup marked a historic achievement for African indoor hockey. For the first time, two African countries, Namibia and South Africa, qualified for the Indoor World Cup. Both the men’s and women’s teams from these nations will compete on the global stage in Croatia in February 2025.

The MTC Dome: A World-Class Venue
The MTC Dome in Swakopmund proved to be an exceptional venue for the Indoor Africa Cup 2024. With a full house for all major games, the atmosphere was electric. The event was supported by the local hockey community, from ball boys and girls to securing sponsorships. The Dome’s team was outstanding, and their efforts have undoubtedly fostered a greater love for indoor hockey in Swakopmund. The success of this tournament demonstrated that the MTC Dome is more than capable of hosting even a World Cup.
